Mat and Althea Boname ScholarshipIn 1972, Dr. Mat G. Boname was recognized for his years of service
to the community and the school. A health suite in the (then
brand) new Primary School was dedicated to Dr. Boname. Dr. Boname,
originally the Medical Inspector, conducted clinics in the Oxford
Schools for many years and was the school physician since he
began medical practice in 1928. The "Mat and Althea Boname
Scholarship" has been established in the Oxford Academy
to honor Dr. M. G. Boname and his late wife Althea, which has
helped many students further their education.
