Default Camp Oxford Guilford

Hi,
Back in the 1950's I went to a summer camp called Camp Oxford Guilford.
It was located between the two towns.
I believe I have located this property on Google Earth and am curious to know what it is used for today.
The location I am referring to is North of Town Road 8/North Pond Road on a lake.
I am very interested to know what it is today and hopefully one day I can visit this lovely area again.
I now live in Australia.
I hope to hear from someone soon.
Kind regards,
Nancy Cohen Raabe

Hi Nancy,
If I have placed it properly, it may still be a summer camp.
Google Map of what might be the camp (was it on Goodwin Lake?):
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...34504&t=h&z=15

In the map above, it would be to the right of the lake. If you zoom in, you can see the tennis courts, and a row of cabins near the road. If that is the same location I believe it was, it's now called Camp Mesorah: www.campmesorah.com

Hope this helps you in some small way.

You might want to read a bit here as well:

Someone confirms Camp Mesorah is the same place, and you might recognize a few of the names?

Smile This is wonderful news!

Hi Bear,
Yes, that is it! I am so excited to have located this on Google Earth! As a child I must have attended that camp (then Camp Oxford Guilford) and have so, so many memories of how beautiful it was around there.
There were so many more trees then, and only one farm at the end of the lake nearer to the road. I used to sit and watch the sunset over that farm. The lake was so beautiful and peaceful. There was one, tiny, abandoned cabin at the lakes edge which must have been someone's fishing refuge.
I have so often dreamt of this area and the next time I visit NY I will endeavour to drive up and see it for myself.
Thank you so much for your help. I will contact the camp and see if I can get any further information.
I remember we used to go into Norwich to the bowling alley once during the summer and I remember how nice it was for someone like myself, who grew up in Brooklyn, to be in the small towns and the country. I just loved it there.
Warm regards,
Nancy
