Oxford Memorial Library Plans

June Burroughs and Marian Godfrey of the Oxford Library Board, spoke at the April 22nd meeting, of the many great events planned at the Library for July 26th. The Library will be decorated with red, white and blue bunting (from the Garden Club). Covered bridge enthusiasts Bob & Trish Kane will be at the library, showing their NYS Covered Bridges power point presentation throughout the day. The Kanes will also have covered bridge and Theodore Burr historic artifacts and memorabilia on display. Bill Brower will be Theodore Burr for the day, wearing a period costume and answering questions. (Burr lived in the library building, his home, from 1810-1813.) He will be on a parade float along with Librarian, Nancy Wilcox, who will also be in an historic costume. There will be library tours by the Board highlighting the new additions, and they will have Library post cards and other note cards for sale. The library will also have a "Kid's Fair" of children's games, in front of the library, in Fort Hill Park. There will be a Dedication ceremony for the new wing with dignitaries.

Dignitaries such as Congressman Arcuri, NYS Assemblyman Crouch, a rep from Sen. Schumer and Sen. Libous are being invited by the library and the Village.

Separate from the Kids Fair will be a Civil War encampment at the Main Street end. The feasibility of closing off the entire area around Ft. Hill Park to traffic is being looked into.
