Reenactment camps

Civil War Camp

Mike and Kerri Beckwith were in attendance at the March 18th meeting. They explained that they will be in Civil War costumes for July 26th. They will have their children in costume, set up a couple of period appropriate tents (nothing anachronistic) in Fort Hill Park, and will invite other participants to join them. They will sleep there Friday night, July 25th, to be ready first thing Saturday morning. They may have up to 15 people. They will have a camp fire and Mike will demonstrate military cooking in the morning. They could have an enlistment table for people to sign-up and then be sworn in. They have many ideas and will put together an itinerary and give it to Joe.

Native Indian Camp

Neil Goldeneagle of the Native Indian group- Mother Earth Drum and Singers - (who do the Mother Earth Indian Festival in Greene June 14-15), will participate in the parade and do a dance. They'll also be camping on Fort Hill Park in a teepee. They promote Native Indian education. There will be demonstrations, storytelling, singing, drumming and some native dancing.
