The Chenango County 4-H Youth Development Program, is a non-formal, hands-on, experiential education program that teaches life skills and lifelong learning through their mottoes "Learn By Doing"and "To Make the Best Better". Open to youth ages 5-18. Adult volunteers always welcome. 4-H offers projects and activities on a broad range of topics; from traditional animal, clothing, and foods projects to computers, aerospace, and public speaking; youth are sure to find a project to fit their interests.

21 active 4-H clubs are organized in communities throughout Chenango County. Clubs may concentrate on one subject area, such as livestock or fishing and aquatics, or may participate in a wide variety of projects each year. Club members help determine the focus of each club.

4-H clubs actively participate in the annual Chenango County Fair. Participation in the Fair offers members the opportunity to show the public the projects they have completed during the year what they have learn through their 4-H membership. It also serves as an educational and public relations tool. 4-H clubs, members, and volunteers also participate in many other community events throughout the year.
